‘V4 Training’ spring edition 2019

News

Recently, the spring edition of “V4 Training” has been concluded – training for managers of European research projects organized by the Polish Science Contact Agency, Slovak Liaison Office for Research and Development (SLORD), Czech Liaison Office for R&D (CZELO) and Permanent Representation of Hungary to the EU.

The training took place on 27-29 March, and its participants were employees of universities and research institutes not only from the Visegrad Group countries, but also from Slovenia, Romania, Lithuania and Cyprus. This year, we received over 40 applications from Poland, out of which we selected 7 Polish participants of the “V4 Training”.

During the three-day workshop we hosted speakers representing various European research & innovation institutions. The participants had the opportunity to discuss matters related to the Horizon 2020 framework programme, as well as those regarding the forthcoming Horizon Europe. In addition, the agenda included the issues of conducting effective scientific communication, implementing best administrative practices as well as networking in the research environment. Some sessions were devoted directly to particular funding instruments such as ‘widening’ tools (including teaming, twinning, ERA-Chair), Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, COST, and HR Excellence in Research Award. What is more, the most current issues were brought up like Brexit or methods of rewarding researchers in EU grants.

During this edition of training, two interactive sessions were conducted. The first one encompassed short presentation of each participant and it was moderated by Magdalena Kula, a communication specialist, currently working in the European Parliament. The second group covered the work in groups in which the participants discussed specific case studies, sharing their own experiences, describing the biggest challenges and developing common solutions.

It is worth noting that the third day of the training was held in the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Poland to the EU. The participants of the event were welcomed by the head of the institution, Ambassador Andrzej Sadoś, and the host of that day was the Polish Science Contact Agency of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Brussels.

Among the invited speakers were: Jarosław Waligóra, representative of the Directorate of Health of the European Commission, Jakob Just Madsen, scientific attaché from the Danish EU Research Liaison Office (DANRO), Giuseppina Lauritano from the Department of Research and Innovation of the European Commission or Mathea Fammels, director of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT).

We warmly encourage taking part in autumn edition of ‘V4 Training’!
