SUMMARY:Webinar on EU Mission: Adaptation to Climate Change - how to become climate resilient by 2030
DESCRIPTION:The NCBR office in Brussels/BSP and the PolSCA PAN office in Brussels invite you to participate in the webinar “EU mission: Adaptation to Climate Change – how to become climate resilient by 2030”\, which will be held on January 20\, 2022\, 10h00 – 12h15. During the webinar the Mission’s principles will be presented and two discussion panels will take place. The background of the meeting is the Implementation Plan developed by the European Commission and the calls announced under the Horizon Europe programme. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nClimate change is taking place all over the world – including Europe – with increasing intensity. Thus\, the vulnerability of the planet and people to the threats associated with them increases. Halting all greenhouse gas emissions would still not prevent the climate impacts that are already occurring. These will continue for decades\, even if global and European efforts to cut emissions prove effective. \n\n\n\nTherefore\, the European Commission adopted a new strategy for Adaptation to Climate Change in 2021: it must be done faster\, smarter and in a more systemic way; so we need to prevent the un-adaptable and adapt to the un-preventable. \n\n\n\nAdapting to the effects of climate change is a key task for Europe\, and the input from R&I is essential\, both for risk assessment\, the social transformation and the solutions. One of the forms of investing in research and innovation for adaptation to climate change is the activity undertaken as part of the European missions under Horizon Europe programme. The Climate Mission aims to help at least 150 regions and communities become climate resilient by 2030. Support is to be carried out in three phases: a) helping regions to better understand\, prepare for and manage climate risk; b) Accelerating the transition to climate resilience – supporting and testing innovative solutions; c) application of large-scale system transformation demonstrators. \n\n\n\nThe meeting will be attended by: representative of the European Commission – John Bell\, Deputy Mission Manager\, Director for Healthy Planet\, DG RTD in the European Commission\, who will talk about the main goals and strategy of the Mission Adaptation to the Climate Change\, prof. Zbigniew Kundzewicz\, member of the Mission Assembly for Adaptation to Climate Change\, and experts representing the areas of science\, business\, innovation and the social party. During two discussion panels\, they will talk about the role of research and innovation in shaping transformative plans for climate change adaptation and how to mobilize citizens and private capital to the active role in achieving climate change adaptation. At the end of the meeting there will be a question and answer session with speakers. \n\n\n\nWebinar will be held in Polish with an introductory module with John Bell English. \n\n\n\nThe webinar agenda can be found under the LINK. Register here: Misja “Adaptacja do zmian klimatycznych” (clickmeeting.com) \n\n\n\nWe invite everyone interested in the European missions to take part in the event.

SUMMARY:PolSCA webinar series on Horizon Europe: Cluster 2. Culture\, Creativity and Inclusive society
DESCRIPTION:The Polish Science Contact Agency (PolSCA) of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Brussels invites you to another event of Webinar series on Horizon Europe\, this time dedicated to Cluster 2 “Culture\, creativity and inclusive society” in pillar II of the Horizon Europe program. \n\n\n\nThe webinar will take place on December 9\, 2021 (Thursday) from 10am to 12am in the online formula; the event will be held in Polish. \n\n\n\nIf you haven’t received a registration form from your Institute yet\, please do contact us at magdalena.dobrzynska@polsca.pan.pl (registration until December 7\, 2021). \n\n\n\nThe meeting agenda is available HERE. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe subject of the meeting is the Horizon Europe Cluster 2 “Culture\, creativity and inclusive society”. This cluster aims to strengthen European democratic values\, including rule of law and fundamental rights\, safeguarding our cultural heritage\, and promoting socio-economic transformations that contribute to inclusion and growth.  \n\n\n\nDuring the session\, we will focus on incentives\, opportunities and challenges related to the application and participation of social sciences and humanities representatives in Horizon Europe\, especially in Cluster 2 competitions (deadline for application April 20\, 2022). \n\n\n\nWe will be supported by an expert of the National Contact Point\, and representatives of\, among others\, Division I of the Polish Academy of Sciences will present good practices in international projects carried out in previous years. \n\n\n\nWe will end with a session of questions and a discussion on practical solutions supporting researchers in the social sciences and humanities in Horizon Europe\, incl. creating and joining project consortia or searching for projects in other Horizon Europe clusters\, in which social sciences and humanities work packages are planned. \n\n\n\nThe event is intended only for academics and research managers of the Polish Academy of Sciences. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe webinar for PAN employees will be preceded by two days of events organized by the European Commission and dedicated to Cluster 2: InfoDay on 7.12. and brokerage event on 8.12 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe encourage you to participate in the entire “three-pack” on Cluster 2. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe main objective of the activities undertaken as part of the PolSCA Webinar series is to strengthen the knowledge of the EU framework programme for research and innovation – Horizon Europe (HE) among representatives of the scientific community of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS). The participation in Horizon Europe (2021-2027) will undoubtedly be a great challenge for scientists and research units in Poland\, including employees of the PAS Institutes. Yet\, Horizon Europe programme\, with a budget of EUR 95.5 billion\, clearly provides a great opportunity to implement ambitious R&D projects\, largely based on multilateral scientific cooperation. \n\n\n\nThe synergy of various activities initiated within the PASIFIC programme under the PAS headquarters\, combined with dissemination and training activities undertaken by the PolSCA Office in accordance with its mission shall contribute to increasing the effective participation of the research institutes of the PAS in projects funded under Horizon Europe. To further enable that\, PolSCA is involved in building and strengthening an informal support network dedicated to scientists and research managers of PAS institutes in the context of the EU framework program for research and innovation\, with an emphasis on Horizon Europe \n\n\n\nPolSCA initiated the roll-out of these webinars in the first half of the 2021. The kick-off meeting included the general introduction to Horizon Europe and a national support system. This was followed by a general introduction to the HE pillar II\, including strategic planning\, missions and partnerships. In the second half of 2021\, a number of follow-up webinars are being delivered by PolSCA team ranging from a detailed overview of selected clusters\, to various HE instruments (e.g. Widening measures\, Cluster 6 of HE ).
