Representatives from the main consortium who are active in this field\, namely EMIRI\, KMM-VIN\, ENCIO\, NextGenPower and MACPLUS\, are meeting to explore the possibility of combining all this historic technology into a full scale demonstration project. A full scale demonstration plant is the final part of A-USC technology required to prove its commercial viability. Such a project would keep the EU at the fore front of such technology and allow the EU the potential to be the first to commercialise its technology.

SUMMARY:Energy efficiency improvements in the health sector - best practices in European regions
DESCRIPTION:The seminar is organised for the 5th time by the Regional Office of Silesia in Brussels\, in cooperation with the States of North Rhine-Westphalia\, the Nord-Pas-de-Calais Representation in Brussels and the Polish Science Contact Agency “PolSCA” of the Polish Academy of Sciences. \nHealthcare facilities are among the most energy-intensive ones. The EU healthcare sector plays a major role in Europe’s economy. Greater attention has to be given to constructing more energy-efficient buildings across the EU. There should also be more emphasis on renewable heating systems and moves towards cleaner fuels. \nThe aim of the seminar is to provide an opportunity for local\, regional and EU stakeholders to discuss options\, best practices and solutions in the field of energy solutions in the medical sector and also in connection with the use of renewable energy.

SUMMARY:Move to a Circular Economy in Poland – Current State and Perspectives
DESCRIPTION:A circular economy means a continuous re-use and recycle of materials. It requires a new design of products so that they last longer\, and become more repairable\, reusable and recyclable and implementation of new technologies but also a change of societal mindset. Transformation towards a zero-waste economy and society entrains costs but also brings about benefits. \nThe European Commission is currently working on a legislative package on the circular economy that should become the EU law in the period 2016-2019. \nThe aim of the conference is to discuss how circular economy is implemented in Poland\, what are the main challenges and benefits stemming from this process. SUMMARY:Circular economy in Visegrad Group (V4) countries  – current state and challenges
DESCRIPTION:A circular economy is an industrial system that replaces the ‘end-of-life’ concept with restoration\, shifts towards the use of renewable energy\, eliminates the use of toxic chemicals\, which impair reuse\, and aims for the elimination of waste through the superior design of materials\, products\, systems\, and\, within this\, business models. \nThe elements of circular economy include: \n\nwaste management\,\na strict differentiation between consumable and durable components of a product\, replacement the concept of a consumer with that of a user\,\nenergy efficiency.\n\nA circular economy requires improvements in material selection and product design (circular design)\, innovative business models\, increase in general awareness and creation the skill base. \nA transition towards circular economy will therefore generate new jobs\, increase productivity and will boost R&I activities. The latter may be treated as a circular economy enablers. \nThe European Commission adopted an ambitious Circular Economy Package that establishes a concrete and ambitious programme of action\, with measures covering the whole cycle: from production and consumption to waste management and the market for secondary raw materials. \nFor all V4 countries implementation of a circular economy is a chance for a faster economic growth respecting sustainability principle and taking into account social needs.
