SUMMARY:PolSCA webinar series on Horizon Europe: Open Science in practice. Implications for project proposals and research management
DESCRIPTION:The Polish Science Contact Agency (PolSCA) of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Brussels is hosting a next meeting within “Webinar series on Horizon Europe”. \n\n\n\nThe primary focus of this webinar is on open science (OS) policy and open access (OA) and their role in research project management and in valorisation of research results. In alignment with 8 ambitions of the EU’s open science policy\, the webinar aims to broaden the knowledge on the logic of maximising the impacts of the EU research & innovation funding\, derived from the Implementation Strategy for Horizon Europe\, and principles of the European Research Area (ERA) that aims to create a single\, borderless market for research\, innovation and technology across the EU. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAs both project planning and management as well as communication\, dissemination\, and exploitation activities are crucial for Horizon Europe projects\, making research data FAIR (Findable\, Accessible\, Interoperable and Re-usable) is set to become the default for the results of EU-funded scientific research. \n\n\n\nWith the open access as a practice of providing online access to scientific information that is free of charge and reusable\, the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) delivers space where researchers\, innovators\, companies\, and citizens can publish\, find and (re)use data for research\, innovation\, and educational purposes. \n\n\n\nFinally\, the Open Research Europe is an open access publishing platform for the publication of research stemming from Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe funding across all subject areas\, that is established to boost the communication\, dissemination\, and exploitation of the research results of projects funded under Horizon Europe. \n\n\n\n\n\nDuring the webinar we will tackle topics like: \n\n\n\nEuropean Commission’s policies and initiatives on open science \n\n\n\nFAIR data and the European Open Science Cloud \n\n\n\nOpen Science in practice of data management \n\n\n\nDissemination & Exploitation Strategy – using Horizon Results Booster and the Horizon Results Platform \n\n\n\n\n\nThe event is open only to academics and research managers of the Polish Academy of Sciences. \n\n\n\nThe webinar will take place online on November 10\, 2022 (Thursday) from 9.30 – 12.30. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe full agenda of the meeting is available here. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe main objective of the activities undertaken as part of the PolSCA Webinar series is to strengthen the knowledge of the EU framework programme for research and innovation – Horizon Europe (HE) among representatives of the scientific community of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS). The participation in Horizon Europe (2021-2027) will undoubtedly be a great challenge for scientists and research units in Poland\, including employees of the PAS Institutes. Yet\, Horizon Europe programme\, with a budget of EUR 95.5 billion\, clearly provides a great opportunity to implement ambitious R&D projects\, largely based on multilateral scientific cooperation. \n\n\n\nThe synergy of various activities initiated within the PASIFIC programme under the PAS headquarters\, combined with dissemination and training activities undertaken by the PolSCA Office in accordance with its mission shall contribute to increasing the effective participation of the research institutes of the PAS in projects funded under Horizon Europe. To further enable that\, PolSCA is involved in building and strengthening an informal support network dedicated to scientists and research managers of the PAS institutes in the context of the EU framework program for research and innovation\, with an emphasis on Horizon Europe

SUMMARY:PAS - CNR Horizon Europe Networking Event
DESCRIPTION:Based on bilateral agreement on scientific and technical cooperation between the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) and the National Research Council of Italy (CNR)\, as well as close cooperation of respective liaison offices based on the IGLO framework\, an on-line networking event focusing on the Horizon Europe cooperation will be organised jointly. It will feature research units with preidentified interested in taking up the PAS/CNP partnership. By bringing together excellent scientist and research managers from selected PAS and CNR units\, it is expected to identify potential new partnerships that could lead to joint HE grant applications. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Polish Academy of Sciences and the National Research Council of Italy as the research performing organisations\, both recognise the key value of international collaborative research. In order to support this notion\, respective Brussels-based liaison offices are operational\, i.e. PolSCA PAN Office and CNR Brussels Branch. Their shared mission is to provide stakeholders with relevant information and appropriate level of assistance in the process of applying for EU Framework Program’s grants\, currently mainly Horizon Europe funding. One of the means to achieve that is via enabling partner searches and consortia building processes. \n\n\n\nAs a necessary preparatory steps\, PolSCA identified individual researchers and research groups as well as  PAS Institutes highly interested in (i) establishing new academic partnership with researcher(s) of the CNR or (ii) further developing existing cooperation within a framework of Horizon Europe. PAS stakeholders were asked to provide information regarding their interest in given CNR research unit(s) and specific individual research groups (PIs). Active participation in the networking exercise requires presentation of the PAS institute and its particular interests in cooperation as well as taking part in bilateral meetings between given PAS/CNR units. \n\n\n\nBased on the gathered responses\, identified CNR stakeholders were approached by the CNR Brussels Branch in order to assess their reciprocal interests in networking event. Based on the research matches\, the final agenda was drawn up. Potential research ideas for joint proposals could be developed further by joint activities of PAS and CNR Brussels offices\, including also on-site project development and consortia building meetings.
