On 17 March 2025, in Brussels<\/strong>, East Poland House, PolSCA Office of the Polish Academy of Sciences and Brussel\u2019s Office of the National Centre for Research and Development organize jointly an event entitled Advancing Food Systems in Europe – research & innovation for healthier, sustainable and resilient future<\/strong> that will gather researchers, innovators, and policymakers to explore the intersection of food production and health. The event has received the patronage of the Polish presidency of the Council of the EU.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

This initiative will feature researchers from leading institutions such as Polish Academy of Sciences, the Medical University of Bialystok and the Aarhus University. The event aims to strengthen collaboration across Europe, drive innovation in food products, and support the development of healthier dietary solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The Polish Presidency’s priorities emphasize seven dimensions of security, with two key areas focusing on food production and health. In this context, we aim to foster stronger connections between Polish researchers, innovators, and policymakers in the field of healthy food and their European counterparts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Main Agenda Points:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Session 1:<\/strong> CONSUMER TRUST AND ADVANCES IN FOOD & HEALTH RESEARCH<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

 The session will look into the motivations, barriers and concerns of consumers when choosing healthier and more sustainable food products, also having in mind sustainable plant production, based e.g. on rich soil and plant microbiomes, for ensuring food quality.  We will then look into the recent findings of experts running studies in the area of prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) through dietary interventions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Session 2: INNOVATION IN FOOD \u2013 PERSPECTIVE OF INDUSTRY<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Firstly, the session will introduce the actions of EIT Food with and for the food research & innovation community, especially initiative focusing on improving public health by promoting innovative, sustainable, and nutritious food solutions. Then we will showcase examples of innovative enterprises operating in the food branch both in Poland and other EU countries and finally let them share their perspective on future food innovations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Session 3:<\/strong> POLICY \u2013 WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR FOOD RESEARCH<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The session, hosted by FutureFoodS Partnership,  will tackle the directions for the food research in terms of food security and quality having in mind the challenges that Europe faces. The presenters will show the perspectives of policy makers, evidence providers and stakeholders organizations, which shall contribute to the ongoing discussion about the future directions for FP10 and MFF 2027-2032. A concluding policy session will address future challenges of food systems in Europe, fostering co-creation opportunities and partnerships for diet-centred prevention of non-communicable diseases, aligning with the EIT Food mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

VENUE:<\/strong> The event will take place on 17 March 2025 in Brussels, rue Belliard 40, at the premises of BSP\/NCBR Office (5th<\/sup> Floor) between 11:00 and 17:00 and will be followed by a networking reception hosting also participants of a matchmaking event Green Horizons Matchmaking: Building Partnerships for Sustainable Food Systems<\/a><\/em><\/strong> organized on 18th<\/sup> March 2025 in Brussels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
