To create effective, innovative-friendly regulations, the European Commission has launched a public consultation on the Advanced Materials Act (AMA). Details below and in the Commission&#8217;s direct announcement (link <a href=\"https:\/\/research-and-innovation.ec.europa.eu\/news\/all-research-and-innovation-news\/commission-seeks-feedback-future-advanced-materials-act-2025-10-21_en\">HERE<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background\"><strong>Why is AMA being created?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The AMA is set to become one of the key elements of the <a href=\"https:\/\/commission.europa.eu\/topics\/competitiveness\/competitiveness-compass_en\"><strong>Competitiveness Compass<\/strong><\/a> package, which aims to accelerate the path \u2018from lab to factory\u2019, remove regulatory barriers and strengthen European technological competitiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The future legislation on advanced and innovative materials builds on previous EU actions in this area, in particular the European Commission&#8217;s February 2024 Communication \u201e<a href=\"https:\/\/research-and-innovation.ec.europa.eu\/research-area\/industrial-research-and-innovation\/chemicals-and-advanced-materials\/advanced-materials-industrial-leadership_en\"><strong>Advanced Materials for Industrial Leadership<\/strong><\/a>\u201d This policy marks the beginning of the process of creating a dynamic, secure and inclusive ecosystem for advanced materials in Europe, which will ensure Europe&#8217;s research leadership and accelerate the market implementation of innovations by mobilising coordinated EU, national, regional and private investment for this purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background\"><strong>Why is it worth speaking up?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Consultations are a space where the needs of large enterprises can be heard, as well as the perspectives of start-ups, scientists and public administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is an opportunity to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 identify barriers that hinder the scaling of innovation,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 emphasise the need to develop research infrastructure,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 propose solutions to improve access to financing,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 support the creation of clear and predictable regulations,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 showcase Poland&#8217;s potential in the field of advanced materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The more consistent, factual and real-life experiences from Poland, the greater the impact on future EU priorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background\"><strong>What do the consultations cover?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The consultations cover:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 directions for research and innovation in the field of advanced materials,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 building European production capacity and increasing strategic independence,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 needs related to research infrastructure, technology transfer and scaling up innovation,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 security, eco-design and sustainability issues,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 market and regulatory barriers hindering the implementation of new materials,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 streamlining regulatory procedures and shortening the time-to-market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background\"><strong>Who can participate?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyone can participate in the consultation, including research institutions, companies, industry organisations, administrative bodies, and individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background\"><strong>How to participate?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The consultation is conducted via the \u201e<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/law\/better-regulation\/have-your-say\/initiatives\/14952-Advanced-Materials-Act_en\">Have&nbsp;Your&nbsp;Say<\/a>\u201d, portal in two forms:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Call for Evidence <\/strong>&#8211; open contributions published on the consultation website<\/li><li><strong>Public Consultation <\/strong>&#8211; online questionnaire with data aggregated by the EC<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Responses can be submitted until 13 January 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below you will find links to material prepared by the EC&#8217;s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation to prepare users for the consultation process: in <a href=\"file:\/\/\/C:\/Users\/tpoprawka\/Downloads\/090166e523d7a5f0-1.pdf\">English<\/a> and in <a href=\"file:\/\/\/C:\/Users\/tpoprawka\/Downloads\/090166e523d79f03.pdf\">Polish<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Good practices, competences and infrastructure of Polish science can have a real impact on the shape of the future Advanced Materials Act. The initiative is intended for researchers wishing to strengthen their independence (stages R2\/R3) and is scheduled for 21-23 January 2026.
