{"id":3478,"date":"2019-02-05T12:08:42","date_gmt":"2019-02-05T12:08:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/polsca.pan.pl\/en\/?p=3478"},"modified":"2019-02-05T12:08:42","modified_gmt":"2019-02-05T12:08:42","slug":"second-call-for-dioscuri-centres","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/polsca.pan.pl\/en\/second-call-for-dioscuri-centres\/","title":{"rendered":"Second Call for Dioscuri Centres!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Max Planck Society (MPG) and the National Science Centre in Poland (NCN) are running jointly <a href=\"https:\/\/ncn.gov.pl\/dioscuri\/dioscuri2\/call-announcement\">call for proposals<\/a> in the second edition of the international competition for the establishment of Dioscuri Centres of Scientific Excellence in Poland!<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Dioscuri<\/em> program, mutually funded by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MNiSW) and the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), was initiated by the Max Planck Society. Its objective is to strengthen and develop scientific excellence through the creation of Dioscuri Centres in Central and Eastern Europe by promoting outstanding researchers who want to conduct their research in this region. Within them, each call awardee has the opportunity to build his or her own research teams in the best Polish scientific institutions.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The work of the Centres will be accompanied by Partners from German universities or research institutions in order to strengthen scientific exchange between Poland and Germany. These Partners will promote the Centres\u2019 structural development and integration in scientific networks.<\/p>\n<p>Polish Host Institution will receive up to \u20ac 300,000 annually to be spent exclusively on the Dioscuri Centre\u2019s operations and the project leader will receive \u20ac 100,00 per year. The funding period for each Dioscuri Centre comprises five years and may be extended for another five years.<\/p>\n<p>It is worth adding that <a href=\"https:\/\/ncn.gov.pl\/dioscuri\/dioscuri1\/results\">the first two Dioscuri Centres<\/a> will be created at the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology of the Polish Academy of Sciences &#8211; one headed by <strong>Aleksandra P\u0119kowska<\/strong>, currently working at the National Institutes of Health in the United States, the second by <strong>Grzegorz Sumara<\/strong> from the University of W\u00fcrzburg in Germany.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The call is directed at internationally competitive and scientifically outstanding\u00a0scientists\u00a0who have proven their ability to conduct innovative research independently<\/strong>.
