Polish Science Contact Agency in Brussels, Polish Institute in Brussels and Balassi Institute in Brussels are pleased to invite you for the Regained Freedom International Film Festival<\/strong> which will take place from 20 to 30 November 2019<\/strong>. A film festival marks 30 years of freedom in Eastern Europe, the Baltics and the Balkans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The programme<\/a> proposes a deep reflection on the\npast: the selection focuses on the historical moment of 89, presenting the\ncircumstances that led to, the way of life during and the events that triggered\nthe changes from the totalitarian regimes. All this from distinct perspectives,\nwith movies from eight different countries partnering in the project: Hungary,\nPoland, Estonia, Georgia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Romania and Croatia. Look\ninto the history of the region and discover through nine cinematic masterpieces\nhow the former regime shaped the life of the people. The festival will show the\npast in a different light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We recommend you\nespecially the Polish documentary taking part in the Festival: \u201cSolidarity\naccording to woman\u201d (\u201cSolidarno\u015b\u0107 wed\u0142ug kobiet\u201d) by Marta Dzido and Piotr\n\u015aliwowski which will be displayed in Polish with English subtitles on Friday 22\nNovember at 7PM in the Balassi Institut, 10 Treurenberg, 1000 Brussels. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSolidarity according to women\u201d is a story about some of the brave\nPolish women whose wisdom and determination helped bring about a change of the\npolitical reality in Poland. The link between two aspects of the film is Marta\nDzido. Born in 1981, symbolic daughter of the Solidarity movement, she makes an\nattempt at locating and reinstating women who were written out of recent Polish\nhistory <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The screening of the film will be\naccompanied by a historical context discussion with prof. Ireneusz Krzemi\u0144ski from the University of Warsaw. <\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
