The call deadlines originally planned for mid-April have been postponed to June, i.e. to <strong>June 4 and June 18<\/strong>. This extension is a response to the COVID-19 crisis that has severely affected many potential applicants of this topic, to allow more time for proposal preparation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>First, find below some information on a number of actions <strong>under the Horizon 2020 Framework Program<\/strong> that the European Commission has already undertaken since the outbreak of a pandemic, e.g.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (otwiera si\u0119 na nowej zak\u0142adce)\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/news\/emergency-coronavirus-research-commission-selects-18th-project-develop-rapid-diagnostics-2020-mar-31_en\" target=\"_blank\">18 projects<\/a> were selected in the 1<sup>st<\/sup> COVID-19 competition, in which several units from Poland participate, including the <strong>Space Research Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences<\/strong> (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (otwiera si\u0119 na nowej zak\u0142adce)\" href=\"https:\/\/cordis.europa.eu\/project\/id\/101003606\" target=\"_blank\">Project HERoS<\/a>) and the <strong>International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology<\/strong> (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (otwiera si\u0119 na nowej zak\u0142adce)\" href=\"https:\/\/cordis.europa.eu\/project\/id\/101003551\" target=\"_blank\">Project EXSCALATE4CoV<\/a>),<\/li><li><strong>ERA vs. Corona Action Plan <\/strong>was launched, which sets out 10 priority short-term coordinated actions to combat coronavirus (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (otwiera si\u0119 na nowej zak\u0142adce)\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/sites\/info\/files\/research_and_innovation\/research_by_area\/documents\/ec_rtd_era-vs-corona.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">link<\/a>),<\/li><li>As part of the <strong>IMI (Innovative Medicine Initiative)<\/strong> activities, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (otwiera si\u0119 na nowej zak\u0142adce)\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/commission\/presscorner\/detail\/en\/ip_20_837\" target=\"_blank\">8 projects<\/a> were supported with a total budget of EUR 117 million, including one with Polish participation<\/li><li><strong>EIT (European Institute of Innovation and Technology)<\/strong> launches \u201eEIT crisis response initiative\u201d mobilizing additional 60 mln EUR focused on support towards innovators (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (otwiera si\u0119 na nowej zak\u0142adce)\" href=\"https:\/\/eit.europa.eu\/our-activities\/covid-19-response\/eit-crisis-response-initiative\" target=\"_blank\">link<\/a>).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"background-color:#f2e2b5\" class=\"has-background\">As a follow up reaction to the coronavirus pandemic, the EC launched a <strong>2<sup>nd<\/sup> COVID-19 call for proposals<\/strong> entitled: &#8220;Innovative and rapid health-related approaches to respond to COVID-19 and to deliver quick results for society for a higher level of preparedness of health systems\u201d. It explicitly does not support the development of new diagnostic procedures, therapeutics and vaccines, but rather aims to strengthen the capacity to manufacture and deploying readily available solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The call is structured around <strong>5 thematic areas<\/strong>. The deadline for submitting applications is <strong>11 June<\/strong>. The EC allocates <strong>EUR 122 million<\/strong> for this competition under SC1 H2020. More details in the <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/commission\/presscorner\/detail\/en\/IP_20_887\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (otwiera si\u0119 na nowej zak\u0142adce)\">link<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, there will be an on-line session on this call webstream on Wednesday, 20 May. Invitation under the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (otwiera si\u0119 na nowej zak\u0142adce)\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/research\/index.cfm?pg=events&amp;eventcode=BCCAC8CD-C425-DC04-60CB217E492CC7BA\" target=\"_blank\">link<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below there is a selection of topics in the area of Health under H2020, in which aspects of COVID-19 pandemic can be of great social importance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"background-color:#f2e2b5\" class=\"has-background\">The call <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (otwiera si\u0119 na nowej zak\u0142adce)\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/funding-tenders\/opportunities\/portal\/screen\/opportunities\/topic-search;%20typeCodes=1;statusCodes=31094502;callCode=H2020-SC1-BHC-2018-2020;\" target=\"_blank\">H2020-SC1-BHC-2018-2020<\/a><\/strong> under <strong>Better Health &amp; Care (BHC) <\/strong>is implemented through 6 priorities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Personalised medicine<\/li><li>Innovative health and care industry<\/li><li>Infectious diseases and improving global health<\/li><li>Innovative health and care systems &#8211; Integration of care<\/li><li>Decoding the role of the environment, including climate change, for health\nand well-being<\/li><li>Supporting the digital transformation of health and care.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This call will aim at reconciling better health and healthy ageing with the need to develop sustainable health and care systems and growth opportunities for the health and care related industries. The scope of the call may range from prevention, diagnosis, stratified approaches, predictive toxicology, the development of novel and repurposed therapeutic approaches, including medical technologies and advanced therapies, cohorts and registries-based research, to integration of care and systemic digital solutions for health and ageing well. It aims to translate new knowledge into innovative applications and accelerate large-scale uptake and deployment in different health and care settings, making health and care systems and services more accessible, responsive and efficient in Europe and beyond. To this end, the inclusion of private companies and other innovators in the projects is encouraged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The current competition covers <strong>21 topics<\/strong> with the deadline for submitting applications on 4<sup>th<\/sup> of June.
