{"id":8048,"date":"2021-07-29T14:56:44","date_gmt":"2021-07-29T14:56:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/polsca.pan.pl\/en\/?p=8048"},"modified":"2021-07-29T15:04:10","modified_gmt":"2021-07-29T15:04:10","slug":"a-breakthrough-discovery-by-scientists-from-the-international-institute-of-molecular-and-cell-biology-on-the-treatment-of-cancer-and-covid-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/polsca.pan.pl\/en\/a-breakthrough-discovery-by-scientists-from-the-international-institute-of-molecular-and-cell-biology-on-the-treatment-of-cancer-and-covid-19\/","title":{"rendered":"A breakthrough discovery by scientists from the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology on the treatment of cancer and COVID-19"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap has-light-green-cyan-background-color has-background\">Scientists from the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw have discovered cellular processes that are a promising therapeutic target in the treatment of cancer and COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>The research was conducted by <strong>Dr. Daria Zd\u017calik-Bielecka<\/strong> in the group of<strong> Prof. Marta Mi\u0105czy\u0144ska<\/strong> &#8211; <strong>director of IIMCB and head of the Cell Biology Laboratory<\/strong> &#8211; with the support of <strong>Agata Po\u015bwiata<\/strong>, PhD student and graduate student <strong>Kamila Kozik<\/strong> and in cooperation with researchers from the <strong>Oslo University Hospital<\/strong> and the <strong>Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology of the Polish Academy of Sciences<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scientists have discovered cellular processes regulated by <strong>AXL &#8211; a receptor tyrosine kinase<\/strong> whose activation is associated with <strong>failures in cancer therapies such as metastasis and drug resistance<\/strong>.
