that we face nowadays need coordinated, transnational efforts&nbsp;to be identified, tackled, and solved. <\/strong>Hence, the engagement of stakeholders at all levels \u2013 researchers, entrepreneurs, citizens, and policy makers \u2013 is crucial to achieve the synergy effect necessary to invent and implement the tailored-made solutions. <br><br>The European Commission has identified five societal challenges that need to be addressed \u2013 <strong>adapting to climate change,&nbsp;fighting cancer,&nbsp;living in greener cities,&nbsp;protecting the ocean, seas, and waters,&nbsp;and ensuring healthy soil and food&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2013 and has prepared a cross sectoral actions (within the framework of Horizon Europe) to overcome them \u2013&nbsp;EU Missions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/polsca.pan.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/mission-sicons-whote-1024x132.png\" alt=\"\" are:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/research-and-innovation\/funding\/funding-opportunities\/funding-programmes-and-open-calls\/horizon-europe\/missions-horizon-europe\/adaptation-climate-change-including-societal-transformation_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Adaptation to Climate Change: support at least 150 European regions and communities to become climate resilient by 2030<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/research-and-innovation\/funding\/funding-opportunities\/funding-programmes-and-open-calls\/horizon-europe\/missions-horizon-europe\/cancer_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cancer: working with Europe&#8217;s Beating Cancer Plan to improve the lives of more than 3 million people by 2030 through prevention, cure and solutions to live longer and better<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/research-and-innovation\/funding\/funding-opportunities\/funding-programmes-and-open-calls\/horizon-europe\/missions-horizon-europe\/healthy-oceans-seas-coastal-and-inland-waters_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/research-and-innovation\/funding\/funding-opportunities\/funding-programmes-and-open-calls\/horizon-europe\/missions-horizon-europe\/climate-neutral-and-smart-cities_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/research-and-innovation\/funding\/funding-opportunities\/funding-programmes-and-open-calls\/horizon-europe\/missions-horizon-europe\/soil-health-and-food_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">A Soil Deal for Europe: 100 living labs and lighthouses to lead the transition towards healthy soils by 2030<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The EU Missions has been launched by the EC on late September 2021 (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/files\/communication-commission-european-missions_en\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Communication from the Commission on European Missions<\/strong><\/a>) and for each of the missions an\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/publications\/implementation-plans-eu-missions_en\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>implementation plan\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>has been published.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>T<\/strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/funding-tenders\/opportunities\/docs\/2021-2027\/horizon\/wp-call\/2021-2022\/wp-12-missions_horizon-2021-2022_en.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>he Missions Work Programme 2021-2022<\/strong><\/a> has been amended on 15<sup>th<\/sup> December 2021 (including 19 new calls for funding with an overall budget available at approx. 550 mln euro in 2021 and 125 mln Hence, when submitting projects proposals,<strong> it is crucial to address the EU Mission objectives and support public policy intervention.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\"
