
The 16th V4 Training for Research Project Managers took place in Brussels between 4-6th November. The event was targeted at experienced research project managers involved in international research projects, including Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe.
This was the 16th edition of the training. So far there has been 487 participants, including 102 from Poland!
The program consisted of three days:
Day 1 introduced participants to the EU’s research and innovation policy, highlighting the role of liaison offices and support opportunities for research institutions. Key aspects of Horizon Europe were discussed, including methods for interpreting program documents and strategies for building visibility in Brussels. The day concluded with a networking reception.
Day 2 was dedicated to experience-sharing and the practical aspects of managing research projects. Participants discussed best administrative practices, financial management in Horizon Europe, as well as opportunities offered by the COST program and Open Science initiatives. Mini-workshop on using online tools for project management was also conducted.
Day 3 focused on building strategic competencies. Updates on current actions within the European Research Area (ERA) and initiatives supporting the development of research project managers were presented. The program ended with workshops on the PM2 methodology and a closing lunch.

The training emphasized the importance of professionalizing research management and support, which plays a crucial role in increasing the participation of Polish institutions in international research projects.
The event was organized by PolSCA Office in collaboration with the Czech Liaison Office for Education and Science (CZELO), the National Research, Development and Innovation Office in Hungary (NRDIO), and the Slovak Liaison Office for Research and Development (SLORD).
