Brainstorming the Future of Brain Health

Join us on November 12, 2024, from 12:00 to 18:00 CET at the NCBR/BSP, Rue Belliard 40, Brussels, for an inspiring and collaborative policy event that will contribute to shaping the future of brain health in Europe. Bringing together internationally renowned researchers, policymakers, and stakeholders, the event aims to accelerate scientific collaboration, innovation and impactful solutions in brain health.
In an increasingly complex world, brain health is fundamental to societal resilience, quality of life, and well-being of all citizens. “Brainstorming the Future of Brain Health” event will serve as a platform to address urgent R&I challenges of the field, catalyse collaborative research, and pave the way for future advancements that make brain health accessible and impactful for all.
In a dialogue with the upcoming European Partnership for Brain Health, this event is a strategic step to enhance the understanding of brain health, from neurological to mental well-being. By combining expertise across disciplines and nations, we aim to foster groundbreaking research, innovative solutions, and robust policy frameworks that drive positive outcomes in brain health. The event will focus on converting scientific knowledge into practical applications that benefit individuals, healthcare systems, and society as a whole.

- 13:00 – Opening Remarks by MEP Adam Jarubas, Chair of the European Parliament’s Subcommittee on Public Health (SANT)
- 13:15 – Policy panel: Infrastructure, Cooperation, Policy
Key presentations by leaders from the European Commission, Forschungszentrum Jülich, Polish Academy of Sciences and the University of Geneva, focusing on the partnerships, policies, and funding needed for international collaboration in brain health research.

- 15:00 – Scientific panel: Challenges in Modern Brain Health Research
Insights into new discoveries, interdisciplinary research priorities, and ethical considerations in brain health by experts from the International Institute of the Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw, German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases-Helmholtz as well as University of Fribourg.
Panel chair: Prof. Leszek Kaczmarek (Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology, PAS)
- 16:20 – Closing Remarks on next steps in the partnership for brain health, followed by a networking cocktail.
