“V4 Training for Research Project Managers” – Summary of the Autumn 2023 edition

News

In November, another – already the fourteenth – edition of the ‘V4 Training for Research Project Managers’.  This is the PolSCA Office’s flagship training course aimed at supporting and developing managers of European research projects (primarily Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe) working at universities, scientific and research institutes in departments responsible for acquisition, management and reporting. We organise them together with the Czech Liaison Office for Research, Development and Innovation (CZELO), the National Research, Development and Innovation Office in Hungary (NRDIO) and the Slovak Liaison Office for Research and Development (SLORD).

Once again, we invited 35 participants from the Visegrad Group countries and IGLO (Informal Group of RTD Liaison Offices) associated countries to Brussels to attend lectures and workshops on the European research and innovation sector, project management and supporting the potential of researchers in their organisations

Seven Polish participants qualified for this edition, of whom unfortunately one (Bożena Raducha from the Poznan University of Medical Sciences) had to cancel her arrival. Instead, the following turned up:

– Katarzyna Jagiełło-Wilgat from the Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences;

Bartłomiej Jaworski from the University of Wrocław (Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics);

Ewelina Kaczmarek from Wrocław University of Economics and Business;

Krzysztof Paleczny from the National Research Institute of Animal Production;

Natalia Szyperek from the Institute ,,Pomnik-Centrum Zdrowia Dziecka”;

Anna Szczotka from the Institute of Chemical Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

Invited speakers included representatives from the Brussels Liaison Offices (Italian CNR or Danish DANRO), European Commission staff (primarily DG RTD) and a representative from Ghent University.

Participants broadened their knowledge of the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation in areas such as consortium building, evaluation, lump sum funding, good project management practices or online tools to help monitor and disseminate projects.

The training was accompanied by an evening networking event to which representatives of science and research working on a daily basis in Brussels were invited.

V4 Training for Research Project Managers‘ takes place twice a year and the next recruitment will be for participation in the Spring 2024 edition.
