Discussions on Horizon Europe in the PolSCA Office: a series of meetings for Polish regional representations in Brussels

In 2019, regular working meetings for representatives of Polish regional offices in Brussels were continued. Through this platform for the exchange of information and experience (with external guests as well), PolSCA strives to support the development of knowledge about research and innovation among our Polish partners at the regional level. The main emphasis during these monthly meetings was put on elements related to the preparation of the next framework program – Horizon Europe (HEU).

In total, 10 meetings were held in 2019, during which we discussed following issues:

fight against disinformation and fake news: the guest of the meeting was Robert Sołtyk, Directorate-General for Social Communication – DG COMM,

Brexit and its potential consequences: the invited speaker was Błażej Thomas, UK Research Office,

introduction to Horizon Europe given by Tomasz Poprawka, PolSCA,

summary of the negotiation process of the HEU: our guest was Agata Janaszczyk from the Polish Permanent Representation to the EU,

HEU strategic plan discussed by the PolSCA Team,

the importance and role of liaison offices in Brussels – the example of Slovenia: the speaker was Maja Ferlinc, Slovenian Business & Research Association,

the new European Commission and its priorities: the invited expert was Marzena Guz-Vetter, Directorate-General for Communication – DG COMM,

• cross-linking/ networking tools in the framework program – on the example of the MSCA RISE: our speaker was Aleksandra Schoetz-Sobczak from Executive Research Agency (REA),

• cross-linking tools in the framework program – on the example of the COST instrument: the guest of the meeting was Katalin Alfoldi, European Corporation in Science and Technology (COST),

synergies between Horizon Europe and the Structural Funds: the invited speaker was Magda de Carli, Directorate General for Research and Innovation – DG RTD.
