Meeting in the series ‘Discussions about Horizon in the PolSCA’, guest – Maja Ferlinc from SBRA
On July 12, 2019 (Friday) at 9.30 next meeting in the series ‘Discussions about Horizon in the PolSCA’ will take place. The series is addressed to the representatives of Polish regions in Brussels. This time Polish Science Contact Agency are going to host Mrs. Maja Ferlinc, Senior Economic Advisor in the Slovenian Business and Research Association (SBRA) in Brussels. She will share the best examples and solutions to support the participation of Slovenian scientists in the Horizon 2020 program. In addition, it will be a great opportunity to get acquainted with the profile of the Slovenian Liaison Office in Brussels. The meeting will be held in English.

On June 19, 2019, the CNRS, celebrating its 80th anniversary, organized a widely promoted conference in Brussels entitled ‘Which scientific diplomacy for Horizon Europe. The contribution of the main players’. Co-organizers of the conference were: The Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Helmholtz, Institute Pasteur, Thales, Sorbonne Universite and Inalco (University of Languages and Civilization).

On July 3-4, 2019, the official Information Day and an international brokerage meetings in the area of “Health, demographic change and wellbeing” will take place in Brussels.
Events are organized by the European Commission (Info Day) and Network of National Contact Points – HNN2.0 together with Enterprise Europe Network – EEN.
The launch of the 2020 call under Societal Challenge 1 (SC1) is planned for June 2019; this will be the last call of Horizon 2020 before the new Framework Program starts in 2021.
During the information day, details of the specific topics within the Health area under the Work Program for 2020 will be presented. More information can be obtained found on NCP websites and via direct contact with dedicated NCP experts and via the Comission’s “Save the date!“.
During the second day of the event, brokerage meetings (B2B) will take place as well as the opportunity to present the idea for the project within the so-called “Pitch session“.
Do not miss an opportunity to attend both of these events and establish valuable contacts with other experts as well as European Commission representatives!
The event is open to any potential applicant eligible for funding and willing to share new project ideas, whether they are from companies, universities, research organization or other organisations.
Registration for the “Open Info Day” (July 3rd) will open soon, while registration for the “Health Partnering Day” (4th July) lasts until 31 May 2019.

‘Discussions on Horizon in the PolSCA Office’ – a series of meetings for representatives of Polish regions in Brussels
In May 2019, Polish Science Contact Agency began a series of meetings devoted to the EU framework programs, both Horizon 2020 and changes as well as new instruments proposed in Horizon Europe (HEU). The purpose of the monthly meetings is to be better prepared for the process of consulting the Strategic Plan (to be launched in July) by building a broader knowledge of the research and innovation framework programs and discussing or developing solutions that enable faster information about this key stage of HEU creation in the regions. The series of meetings is addressed mainly to representatives of Polish regions in Brussels, who can propose some solutions supporting the scientific community at the regional level.

On June 24, 2019 (Monday) at 2 pm a meeting for Polish regional representatives in Brussels will take place. It will be the second meeting in the series ‘Discussions on Horizon of Europe in the PolSCA Office’. The topic of the meeting is the second pillar of the next EU framework program in the field of research and innovation, which will cover issues such as missions, partnerships and clusters.
Digital transformation – V4 Conference
On June 6 2019, the conference ‘Digital Transformation in the New Era: Current Status and Future Challenges’ was held in Brussels. The event was organized by the representatives of the V4 Group: Slovak Liaison Office for Research and Development (SLORD), The Polish Science Contact Agency of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Czech Liaison Office For Research, Development and Innovation (CZELO) and Permanent Representation of Hungary to the EU. The goal of the event was to gather experts, specialists, researchers and practitioners from various fields who are directly or indirectly involved in the issues of digital transformation.

‘Enhancing Gender Equality and the Gender Dimension in Research and Innovation’ – Training for Policy Makers
The National Documentation Centre (EKT) is organizing on June 20th, 2019 at the National Hellenic Research Foundation Training Event for Policy Makers. The event is organized in the context of the Horizon 2020 GENDERACTION project, which aim is to create an innovative policy community to support the implementation of the European Research Areas (ERA) priority on gender equality.
The event will provide a forum for dialogue and exchange of experiences and best practices on gender equality. In particular, the event will explore issues such as the design, implementation and monitoring of gender equality policies and plans in research performing and research funding organisations, the role of research funders in integrating the gender dimension in research and innovation. The participation of representatives of European organisations during the round-table discussion will provide the opportunity for exploring avenues for strengthening further the gender dimension at EU level.
The event targets representatives from research performing and research funding organisations, representatives from bodies whose work focuses on gender equality, gender equality experts and scholars and young researchers.
The language of the event is English.

What future for Europe after the last European elections? – report from the conference
On May 28 2019, a conference ‘After the European elections. What future for Europe?’ was held at the University of Warsaw. This French-Polish-German scientific meeting took place as part of the series ‘Academic looks: seminar Actualité critique’, organized by the Centre of French Culture and Francophone Studies of the University of Warsaw and the French Institute. The co-organizers of the event were: the Science Department of Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Polish Science Contact Agency in Brussels, the Societas Humboldtiana Polonorum, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Institute of European Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Philosophy of the University of Warsaw in cooperation with the École Normale Supérieure Paris.
