PASIFIC – a new fellowship programme for excellent researchers at the Polish Academy of Sciences!

2 years of research in 69 excellent host institutes (to choose from) and in any discipline with up to 93,000 euro budget for research with? Why not? The Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS) announces the PASIFIC Fellowship Programme funded within the MSCA COFUND scheme! The PASIFIC programme offers attractive 2-year postdoctoral fellowships to excellent researchers of any nationality, working in any scientific discipline. Each PASIFIC fellow will be granted a monthly allowance of approx. €2,500 net and, if applicable, an additional family allowance. In addition, PASIFIC fellows will be provided with a research budget of up to €93,000 per project.

ABOUT PASIFIC

The PASIFIC Fellowship Programme is a unique opportunity for researchers who want to undertake state-of-the-art research in a dynamic scientific environment. It will enable scholars of all nationalities and across all scientific disciplines to establish their scientific independence and conduct ground-breaking research

For 2 years, the fellows will be hosted at one of the institutes within the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS), which is one of the most prestigious research institutions in Poland. Successful candidates will carry out their research at one of the 68 institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw. They will have the freedom to choose their research area, research supervisor, host institute as well as secondment organisations best suited for their research and career development. 

ELIGIBILITY AND REQUIREMENTS

To apply for the PASIFIC Fellowship, you have to meet the two eligibility criteria

  • At the deadline of the call, you must be in possession of at least a doctoral degree or 4 years of full-time equivalent research experience. This means you should hold a degree entitling you to embark on a doctoral programme and have at least four years of documented research experience. 
  • You must comply with the MSCA mobility rule. This means you must have not have been a resident of Poland or carried out your main activities (including work or studies) in Poland for more than one year out of the three years prior to the call’s deadline. 

Before applying, the applicants will be asked to identify and contact a suitable Host Institute and an academic mentor who will commit to supporting their research.

Applicants will be obliged to fill in an online application form that will be available from March 15th to June 30th, 2021 (Call1) and from September 15th to December 30th, 2021 (Call2).

The application should include the following documents:

  • CV and track record of early achievements;
  • research project description (max. 10 pages);
  • supervisor’s CV and description of the Institute’s research environment (to be prepared jointly with the Institute’s representatives);
  • ethics self-assessment (if necessary).

Also, copies of the following documents should be submitted:

  • PhD diploma or a document confirming at least 4-year research experience;
  • letter of support from the prospective supervisor and host institution.

TIMELINES

50 outstanding scientists will be selected in the two calls announced in 2021:

  • First call: March 15th – June 30th 2021
  • Second call: September 15thDecember 30th 2021.
