The background of the meeting is the Implementation Plan developed by the European Commission and the calls announced under the Horizon Europe programme.

The most pressing challenges that we face nowadays need coordinated, transnational efforts to be identified, tackled, and solved. Hence, the engagement of stakeholders at all levels – researchers, entrepreneurs, citizens, and policy makers – is crucial to achieve the synergy effect necessary to invent and implement the tailored-made solutions.
The European Commission has identified five societal challenges that need to be addressed – adapting to climate change, fighting cancer, living in greener cities, protecting the ocean, seas, and waters, and ensuring healthy soil and food – and has prepared a cross sectoral actions (within the framework of Horizon Europe) to overcome them – EU Missions.

The Polish Science Contact Agency (PolSCA) of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Brussels is hosting a next meeting within “Webinar series on Horizon Europe”. The main purpose of this particular webinar will be to present cluster 6: “Food, bioeconomy, natural resources, agriculture and environment” of Horizon Europe. The current research and innovation funding opportunities in this part of the framework program are set out in the Work Program for 2021-2022.
Thanks to our special guests: representatives of the European Commission, Mission Boards and National Contact Point (NCBR/KPK), the meeting attendees will strengthen their knowledge about priorities, specific objectives and expected impact of the cluster 6 as well as about the funding opportunities within 7 destinations of the cluster for 2022. Moreover, the participants will be given detailed insight into the evaluation novelties under cluster 6 with a special attention to Do Not Significant Harm criterion. This will be followed by testimonials of the Polish researchers sharing their experiences gained from the Horizon 2020 funded grants. Eventually, Mission Boards members will present closely related to cluster 6: Mission Restore our Ocean and Waters and EU Mission Soil deal for Europe.
The event is open only to academics and research managers of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
The webinar will take place online on November 30, 2021 (Tuesday) from 9.30 – 13.00.

Scientific institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS) are introducing gender equality plans (GEPs). Departments entrusted with the preparation of these documents will find help in the guidebook prepared by the Polish Science Contact Agency PolSCA of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Brussels. Implementing gender equality plans in research institution will soon be mandatory for applicants in competitions of the Horizon Europe, including MSCA and ERC.
