Horizon Europe Navigators MeetUp: Research Managers & Administrators (RMAs)

The first meeting of 2023 of the network of research managers across institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the so-called Horizon Europe Navigators, will cover the subject of research management itself. In the introductory part of the meeting, the ERA Action 17 will be presented by Stijn Delaure. Subsequently, two perspectives on existing and vibrant communities of RMAs will be presented. Nik Claesen will provide first-hand information on EARMA (European Association of Research Managers and Administrators). Subsequently, Cyprian Tomasik together with Zygmunt Krasiński will introduce participants to the KRAB, Polish national association of EU-funded project coordinators.

The meeting is part of a series of dedicated events for research managers at scientific institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences, carried out in synergy with the PASIFIC programme.

Work Programmes 2023-24 of the Horizon Europe – new opportunities for R&D&I

On 6 December 2022, the European Commission has published the main Work Programmes 2023-24 of the Horizon Europe, the largest EU research and innovation funding program for 2021-2027. Competitions for a total amount of EUR 13.5 billion will be announced over the next two years, as part of the Work Programmes 2023-24. Each of the Work Programs contain information on topics, budgets and schedules of competitions for research and innovation projects.

V4 Training – recruitment for the next edition (spring 2023) has started again!

The call for participants for the next edition of the “V4 Training for Research Project Managers” has started again! We invite to Brussels (March 29, 30 and 31) research managers working in project departments of universities, scientific and research institutes responsible for acquisition, management and reporting. PAS – CNR Horizon Europe Networking Event

Based on bilateral agreement on scientific and technical cooperation between the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) and the National Research Council of Italy (CNR), as well as close cooperation of respective liaison offices based on the IGLO framework, an on-line networking event focusing on the Horizon Europe cooperation will be organised jointly. It will feature research units with preidentified interested in taking up the PAS/CNP partnership. By bringing together excellent scientist and research managers from selected PAS and CNR units, it is expected to identify potential new partnerships that could lead to joint HE grant applications.

PolSCA webinar series on Horizon Europe: Open Science in practice. Implications for project proposals and research management

The Polish Science Contact Agency (PolSCA) of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Brussels is hosting a next meeting within “Webinar series on Horizon Europe”.

The primary focus of this webinar is on open science (OS) policy and open access (OA) and their role in research project management and in valorisation of research results. In alignment with 8 ambitions of the EU’s open science policy, the webinar aims to broaden the knowledge on the logic of maximising the impacts of the EU research & innovation funding, derived from the Implementation Strategy for Horizon Europe, and principles of the European Research Area (ERA) that aims to create a single, borderless market for research, innovation and technology across the EU.

Horizon Europe Navigators MeetUp – MSCA SE & Cofund calls 2022

An upcoming meeting of the network of science managers across institutes of the Polish Academy of
Sciences, the so-called Horizon Europe Navigators will be devoted to the subject of effective participation in the Maria Skłodowska Curie Actions (MSCA) the Staff Exchanges (SE) and COFUND actions financed under the 1^st pillar (Excellent Science) of Horizon Europe. 

Participants of the meeting will have the opportunity to dive in the SE action funding short-term international and inter-sectoral exchanges of staff members involved in research and innovation activities of participating organisations as well as the COFUND action which provides co-funding for regional, national and international programmes for training and career development. Both programmes will be presented by Aleksandrę Schoetz Sobczak oraz Alexandrę Pedersen Goncalves z European Research Executive Agency.

Good case practices of developing sustainable projects will be delivered, based on the activities of existing European networks, by Juliane Sauer from MSCA-NET as well as institutional beneficiaries with a high level of participation in MSCA projects, e.g. Agnieszka Tadrzak, Institute of Physical Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences. 

‘V4 Training for Research Project Managers’ – summary of the Autumn 2022 edition

‘V4 Training for Research Project Managers’ is the flagship training course of the Polish Science Contact Agency. Its aim is to support and develop managers of European research projects (primarily Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe) working at universities, scientific and research institutes in departments responsible for acquisition, management and reporting. These trainings have been co-organised since 2016 together with the Czech Liaison Office for Research, Development and Innovation (CZELO), the National Research, Development and Innovation Office in Hungary (NRDIO) and the Slovak Liaison Office for Research and Development (SLORD). The current training was the 12th edition. So far, more than 420 people have received the training, including 80 participants from Polish research units!

V4 Training is a training course designed for experienced research managers working in project departments (mainly international: H2020 and Horizon Europe) at universities, scientific and research institutes in departments responsible for acquisition, management and reporting from each Visegrad Group country and from countries associated in IGLO (Informal Group of RTD Liaison Offices).

The event is organised in Brussels by the Polish Science Contact Agency PolSCA together with the Czech Liaison Office for Education and Science (CZELO), the National Research, Development and Innovation Office of Hungary (NRDIO) and the Slovak Liaison Office for Research and Development (SLORD), with a total of 35 participants.
